Stable Owners Association of Alberta will strive to improve communication and familiarity among the equine community
- Partner with organizations, communities and publications to advertise Equine and agricultural events to showcase equine facilities and programs in a given community.
- Grow the horse industry by generating more customers who may be new to the horse world.
- Strengthen relationships between equine and other integral businesses (veterinary services, truck and trailer sales, professional services, etc.)
- Develop the understanding that horses and the activities of stable owners are, indeed, agriculture and need to be respected, defined and assessed as such.
- Developing Specific Bio-Security Protocol
- Communicate local and provincial health issues to the greater industry.
Key Areas of Focus:
In our pursuit of a stronger equine community, we are actively engaged in addressing critical issues impacting stable owners, including:
- Revised Land Use By-Laws: Advocate for fair and practical land use regulations that support the sustainable growth of the equine community.
- Waste Management: Address concerns regarding manure and waste disposal to ensure environmentally responsible practices.
- Taxation Challenges: Work towards resolving business, farm, and property tax issues that impact stable owners.
- Government Communication: Establish effective channels of communication with municipal and provincial governments to represent our interests.
- Collaborate to find solutions for challenges related to clients and borders.
- Health and Pandemic Protocols: Stay proactive in developing and implementing health and pandemic protocols to ensure the well-being of both equines and their caretakers.
- Animal Keepers Act (formerly known as the Stable Keepers Act): Stay vigilant on revisions to the Animal Keepers Act to protect the interests of stable owners.
- Insurance Matters: Advocate for fair and affordable insurance options for the equine community.
- Rodent Control: Address issues related to rodent control that can impact stable operations.
